Book Review: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

Wuthering Heights is a classic gothic novel that tells the haunting and tragic love story of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. Set against the wild and stormy Yorkshire moors, the novel explores themes of love, revenge, obsession, and class divisions. Heathcliff, a foundling raised by Catherine’s family, grows up with a deep, consuming love for her—but when she chooses to marry another man for status, his heartbreak turns into a lifelong quest for revenge. The novel’s dark atmosphere and morally complex characters make it a standout in English literature.

My Thoughts

This was my first gothic novel, and while I liked the story itself, the writing style made it really hard for me to read. The old-fashioned language and structure slowed me down, but I could still appreciate the intensity of the characters and the unforgettable setting. It’s definitely a memorable book, even if it wasn’t my favorite. I gave it 3/5 stars.
