DIY All Natural Face Mask

While browsing the amazing health and beauty section at Whole Foods, I found Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. It comes in a pretty good size tub and it's SUPER cheap. (If you don't live near a Whole Foods, you can get it on Amazon here). It is 100% natural bentonite clay.

Bentonite clay is mined from the earth. It's formed after volcanic ash has weathered and aged in the presence of water. It has a strong electromagnetic charge, and when activated with water, it acts like a magnet in and on our bodies, pulling metals and toxins to it. (Source).

I like to mix the clay with apple cider vinegar instead of water though. Apple cider vinegar's main ingredient is acetic acid. It also contains lactic, citric, and malic acids. These acids naturally gently exfoliate skin by dissolving dead skin cells. So this is THE PERFECT combination for a face mask. Be warned it can make your skin a little red after you wash it off - that's totally normal, and will fade in 10-20 mins.

Ingredients
2 TB bentonite clay
2 TB apple cider vinegar

Directions
1. In a bowl combine ingredients with spatula, smashing clay parts into the vinegar until smooth. It will get a little foamy.
2. Place on face for 20 minutes. (10 minutes for sensitive skin). As it drys you will feel it tightening.
3. After allotted time, wet wash cloth with warm water and wipe off.

Have you guys used this clay before?

Try it out and let me know what you think!
